Did you know?

Did you know that peanut butter can be converted into a diamond?  Did you know that the tallest known snowman was higher than a 12-story building, or that cheetahs can change direction in midair when chasing prey?

While I was perusing pinterest one day, I came across a wonderful idea from cgmosier.  The instagramer posted about a new project that she hoped would get her students to check out more nonfiction.  She created a Did You Know board, and students could bring facts to her that she displayed.

I used this idea to start something similar in my school.  I created 3 Did you know? boards around my school, and each week I post a new fact on each.  I get my facts from National Geographic's Weird but True! 300 outrageous facts.

I cannot tell you how many adults and children talk about the facts posted!  What a great conversation starter!  Here is a sampling of my boards:
