Holiday Spirit!

It is such a great time of the year right now! The best place to be around the holidays is in an elementary school! This is a time for all to believe in the magic of the holidays. No matter your religion, your stresses, your prejudices, the holidays in an elementary school remind you of the beauty in the world.

This week we had the honor of the Eastside High School Cadets come to read to us. The high school students dressed as elves, brought with them a tree decorated to represent their read aloud, and a friend for the children to visit with- Santa. It was beautiful to hear the children ask Santa questions, such as, "Where's your sleigh?" One of my most favorite moments during the visit was when the second graders were walking down the hall, and when the front of the line saw the elves, their eyes grew big and they gasped, "Santa's elves are here!" That made my heart grow 3 sizes.

Having the high school students donate their time and energy to be with us, and seeing the reaction of the students and teachers, made every difference in my world. Our students heard between 5 and 7 holiday themed books, they got to visit with Santa, and they brought joy back to the worlds of some very grumpy adults.

Thank you Eastside for your neverending support of Brook Glenn! YOU make a world of difference!
