Teacher Appreciation Weeks 2014

For Teacher Appreciation this year, we decided to give teachers and staff 2 weeks of gifts and events to show how much we appreciate them! We started with a potluck lunch for Cinco de Mayo, that was so delicious! On day 2, we gave staff a tea bag in their mailbox that said, You're tea-rific! On day 3, we put a pudding cup in each mailbox that said, Thanks for pudding your heart into teaching.

On day 4, administration served ice cream to teachers and staff. This included all of the yummy toppings! The students were quite jealous.

Good News Club provided a luncheon on day 5, and administration gave teachers a duty-free lunch. We decorated our little dining room inside the cafeteria, and teachers sat without having to see students dribble and spit their food while they talk and eat.

The assistant principal filling in for our AP who just had hip surgery knows how to do calligraphy. Don Alewine used his skills on colorful water bottles, each complete with the staff member's first name. This was in teacher boxes for day 6.

Also on day 6, we invited a local chiropractor in to provide us with free massages. That may have been better than the ice cream!

We didn't completely leave students out of all the fun. We had Kona Ice come to the school and sell ices during lunch time. This fundraiser was so simple! I highly suggest it for all schools.

Day 7 included a luncheon provided by PTA. Teachers found parent volunteers to watch their classes for 1 hour while they enjoyed the luncheon. During this time, administration gifted each classroom teacher with books for their classroom library. We purchased these books through Lynn Holbrooks with Usborne Books. Lynn was able to assist us with finding matching grants, so that our cost was minimal. Teachers received between three to five brand new books, and our cost was extremely low.

It is truly amazing how everyone in the world can identify the smell of popcorn! On day 8, a parent volunteer popped popcorn for staff members during lunches. We had yummy ranch seasoning for the popcorn! Thank you, Shavon Davis, for serving up the popcorn!

Atlanta Bread Company donated a delicious breakfast for staff for day 9 of our celebration. Our interim AP knows a lot of people!

For the final day of Teacher Appreciation Weeks, we concluded with a raffle. Staff members won gift cards to restaurants, gift bags with lotions or picture frames, and so much more! Thank you to Rafferty's who donated free dinners for our give-away, Kannika's Thai Kitchen who also donated delicious dinners, Texas Roadhouse who continuously supports teachers, and Taco Casa!
