Science Fun Day 2014

Just like last year, Brook Glenn honored the creativity of our world by sponsoring Science Fun Day (to see last year's post, click here). High school students shared science experiments with our students, and everyone attended a 1 hour science assembly. We were honored to have Jennifer Romatelli from Roper Mountain Science Center again this year for our assemblies. Primary students focused their attention on air pressure, and intermediate students were awed by liquid nitrogen.

Below, Eastside High School students demonstrated crushing a can from air pressure, sinking and floating cans, spewing volcanoes, and how to make a lava lamp.

Below, teachers had students create their own volcanoes, explore tin foil boats, find out what happens when you put mentos in soda, how to mix colors, optical illusions, how to make the best paper airplane, and principles of magnetism.

Below, Jennifer shows primary students how low pressure and high pressure act and react.

This kindergarten student definitely recreated the experience: IMG_3095

Intermediate students had fun learning about liquid nitrogen. We were all amazed by the re-inflating balloons and the floating magnet!
