Second grade writing with similies

As I walk through our hallways at school, I tend to stop and read the writing samples that are hanging up outside of classrooms. I always enjoy reading what students have created. As I stopped in front of Sharon Houck's 2nd grade classroom the other day, I actually laughed out loud from the writing samples displayed. I assume the class was discussing super hereos, and the students had the opportunity to share their own super hero story.

I specifically loved the samples below. Similies is a pretty easy concept for most students, but meaningfully integrating similies into writing is a little tricky. I feel that these particular students used similies to fully enhance their writing. What do you think?
