There is a buzz around the school today after students got to see author Kevin Kurtz and his book, A Day in the Deep. The author read his book aloud, and everyone just loved the cool facts he shared about all of the weird animals in the deep ocean. The illustrations kept the audience enthralled; oohing and ahhing constantly! Students also got to hear about the writing journey from a real live author, who struggles sometimes with motivation. We learned how authors get ideas, where to research, how to narrow our research, and that practice helps writers get better.
We thank Kevin Kurtz for sharing his never-ending knowledge about the deep ocean and its inhabitants, and for encouraging us to write!
