I am enjoying this book because it centers around high school students and real problems they face. The book takes place in Pennsylvania, near where United Flight 93 went down. Although that plays only a small role in the book, it helps the characters take a good like at life and what they think is reality. Only their reality becomes increasing more difficult as the town is suddenly plagued with an epidemic of mass proportions.
People start seeing zombies, but not the kind from movies, and people start stealing cleaning products and cold remedies. The epidemic: meth. A Plague Year takes on the battle of meth full force through a high school boy, and does a great job of making one wonder what's going on next door.
