The 4 C's

During the ALIVE (Activity Based Learning Focused Interactive Lessons Varied Instruction Engaged Learners) course I’m co-facilitating with Elizabeth Barwick, we had participants read about the 4C’s.  In case you haven’t heard, the 4C’s are part of the 21st Century Competencies and include Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Communication.  The articles about the 4C’s we used are found at nea.org.  For the first part of the learning experience, participants read one of the articles, and then worked with a small group to present the information to the larger group.  Each group used a different approach to teach the concept to others, including skits, powerpoints, tagxedo, and more.  Following were some of the interpretations of the 4C’s from the participants.

Part 2 of the learning included a Carousel Brainstorm, in which participants worked in small groups to brainstorm ways to facilitate the 4C’s into the classroom.  We discussed the posters periodically throughout two days.  Following are the posters participants created.
